Biography

Hanne Bruijnes (1999) grew up in a musical family. Her mother studied piano at the conservatory and a prominent place in the house was reserved for the grand piano. From an early age, Hanne used the piano as a way to express her creativity.

After taking classical piano lessons for quite some time, Hanne turned out to be more suited to play ‘outside the box’. More and more often, the music books stayed in the bookcase and she started taking improvisation lessons with Robijn Tilanus. Here she learned to play in a free and creative way and her talent came into its own.

Despite a turbulent time where study, work and living abroad sometimes take priority, her music always travels with Hanne. When she doesn't have a piano at her disposal, she plays melodies in her head and runs her hands over the imaginary keys.

Hanne describes her music as free. It comes from a feeling of freedom and energy that cannot be expressed in words. This is also reflected in the title of her debut album Common Blue: a butterfly that is free to fly where it wants.
